Our last day in Ypres, Belgium started out with sunny skies but strong winds as we embarked on a challenging but rewarding bike ride.

Our bike tour stopped at numerous war memorials that commemorate Canadians who died in the First World War. We saw the spot where John McCrae wrote “Flanders Fields”, and students visited the “Brooding Solidier” statue and many more. The group also entered The Sanctuary Wood Museum where they walked through the trenches and tunnels and saw real artifacts discovered at the battlefield such as artillery shells, bones and weapons.

In the evening, we had dinner and celebrated our student Grace’s birthday.

Tomorrow we head to France!
